FOTA - Friends On The Air aims to help great ideas and initiatives come to fruition by financially subsidising HAMRadio activations.

FOTA - Friends On The Air Activations. We aim to bring operators from different countries and continents together on Irish soil or during a special activation.

We will have 3 different and distinct kinds of activations. Irish or EU POTA, SOTA or IOTA activations and Worldwide DX adventures.

All will be offered at subsidised prices using membership funds.

FOTA - Friends On The Air HUBS. We already have a few 'hotspots' of FOTA members in a few countries. In 2025 we will be looking to establish more meeting HUBS who we aim to sponsor with Transceiver and Antenna equipment. As of today, any group of 25 people in any country can apply for a grant up to a 5000 Euro  (or equivalent in local currency). From the moment you have a fixed HUB locator established and applied for a country FOTA callsign, we will provide you with a FlexRadio Maestro console to access our antenna network. FOTA - Friends On The Air SWL. In some locations we have antennas for the sole purpose of 'listening'.

In 2025 we will introduce the FOTA SWL membership. Members will be provided with SDR software and hardware to report on FOTA transmissions between members.

SWL FOTA members will always be welcome to join us on an Irish or EU 'All Inclusive' activation as 'ears and loggers'. 

As of time of writing, February 1 - 2025, FOTA has passed the magic number of 1000 active members.

It was word of mouth and calling CQ that brought people to our QRZ.com pages and this website. FOTA has now become bigger a bit faster than we anticipated.

Our new team will now concentrate on the logistics of welcoming members to Ireland and successfully organising our activations in the EU and further away.

Our DX Activator membership can not continue to grow without giving people the chance to join us on a DX adventure. It would make no sense to pay for a membership without being able to use the benefits. We are looking into creating a 'credit token' system where memberships can always be converted into value at any time.
